Prime Areas of Learning

The 3 Prime Areas of the EYFS are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language Development and Physical Development.

These lay down the foundation for all children's learning, ensuring that children are able to relate to others, communicate effectively and engage with their environment. The prime areas are dependent on each other and are universal in that they occur within cultures and social backgrounds.

Prime areas are fundamental, work together, and move through to support development in all other areas.

We also observe the children's Characteristics of Effective Learning.  This allows us to see how a child learns from their environment, experiences and activities.
