Our personal development curriculum is designed to help children become confident, respectful, resilient and responsible individuals who are prepared for the next stage of education and life beyond school. Through our Strong Foundations approach, we place great importance on relationships, wellbeing, communication, personal safety, emotional development and positive character. We aim to ensure every child feels safe, valued, included and able to thrive within our school community.

  • The last Friday of each half-term is our Star Awards assembly (families invited)

  • In the last week of each half-term, it is our Poetry Performance assembly, and every class performs their poem to the rest of the school.

Direct Teaching

Our PSHE, RSHE, and citizenship curriculum has three key strands: Values, Health & Relationships, and Life Skills. To view the full PSHE curriculum, please visit our PSHE curriculum page.

The Values we teach:

Life Skills
This strand covers essential life skills each half-term. In each year group, we cover the following themes:

Woven through our three elements of PSHE, we use resources and receive teaching sessions from:

  • The Peace Curriculum

These complement our annual workshops, which are listed below.

As part of the Life Skills strand, years 4, 5, and 6, have an additional weekly workshops which cover the following themes:

Clubs & SHINE time

SHINE time is every Friday from 14:15-15:00. During SHINE time, children can attend a club of their choice each half-term. Currently, our SHINE time clubs are:

After-School Clubs

School Curriculum Days

There are three whole-school sports days in 2026-2027:
Autumn Sports Day - Gymnastics
Spring Sports Day - Athletics
Summer Sports Day - Traditional/Games

During curriculum days, we pause all usual lessons for the day and have the whole school focus on a theme. We plan to teach elements of all subjects through the theme. These days help us teach about the diversity of beliefs, traditions, and cultures, and mark important days and events in British life. On these days, children will take part in lessons, activities, and workshops.
