Governance

Our Governing Board plays an important role in supporting the school’s vision of ensuring every child is safe, valued, included and able to shine. Governors work closely with school leaders to provide strategic support, challenge and accountability while ensuring the school remains focused on delivering the highest possible standards of education, care and wellbeing for all children.

Governors are committed to the school’s values of Service, Humility, Integrity, Nurture and Excellence (SHINE) and work alongside leaders to ensure these values are reflected throughout all aspects of school life. Alongside our expectations of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, these values help shape the culture, curriculum and wider experiences offered to children across the school.

The Governing Board works strategically with leaders to monitor:

  • safeguarding and child protection

  • inclusion and SEND

  • curriculum and achievement

  • attendance and behaviour

  • personal development and wellbeing

  • Early Years provision

  • staffing and finance

  • statutory compliance and school improvement priorities.

Governors regularly review information and evidence provided by leaders while also developing first-hand understanding of the school through governor visits, meetings, reports, monitoring activities and discussions with staff and children. This helps governors understand the school’s strengths, priorities and areas for continued development.
