Early Years

At Sutton Manor Community Primary School, we believe that inclusive practice begins from the very start of a child’s educational journey. Our Early Years provision is built upon the principle that every child should feel safe, valued, understood and fully included in school life.

We recognise that children enter our setting with a wide range of strengths, experiences and needs. Through our Strong Foundations approach, we prioritise communication, language, relationships, routines, emotional wellbeing and early learning so that all children are supported to thrive.

Our Early Years is made up of three classrooms:

  • Tinies - 2-year-olds

  • Nursery

  • Reception

We operate a full-time nursery for all children, regardless of whether they are entitled to 15 or 30 hours of funding. We don't charge for the additional 15 hours. Please contact the school if you wish to discuss a full-time nursery placement for your child.

Extended Care

Children in nursery and reception are welcome to join our breakfast and after-school clubs.
Breakfast club - 07:30-08:00 - £2
Breakfast club - 08:00-08:45 - Free
After school club - 15:20-18:00 - £3 (16:00 finish) or £ (18:00 finish)

There are also after-school extracurricular clubs for all EYFS children (15:20-16:15)
This term, the clubs are:

  • Funky Fingers

  • Story Club

Partnership with Families

We value the critical role families play in children’s development and well-being. Staff work closely with families to share information, celebrate successes and respond to any concerns together.

Where children require additional support, families are involved throughout the process and are supported through regular communication, review meetings and partnership working with external agencies where appropriate.

SEND and Inclusion

Inclusion is not viewed as a separate provision within Early Years. It is woven throughout everyday practice, interactions, environments and routines. All adults work together to ensure that children experience a sense of belonging and are supported in accessing an ambitious, developmentally appropriate curriculum.

We work with a range of external agencies that support us in ensuring that provision is effective for children with diverse needs.
