Sutton Manor Community Primary School is an inclusive mainstream Primary School and we believe that every child deserves an education which ensures that their full potential is achieved personally, emotionally and academically. This webpage will provide you with information regarding the ways in which we ensure we support all our pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Provision may change and develop over time. The four broad 'areas of need' are Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, and Sensory and Physical Needs.
At Sutton Manor Community Primary, we strive to meet the needs of all pupils within our school. All staff are aware of SEND within the school and receive high quality information and training. We aim to quickly identify pupils, who are making limited progress and provide targeted interventions and support to meet their needs. We ensure that parents are fully aware of the SEND process and are informed of their child's learning at regular points throughout the year. We are a fully inclusive school and work alongside the Local Authority, Health Professionals and community organisations to find the most appropriate and effective support for pupils and families within our care.
The LA Local Offer
The Children and Families Bill was enacted in 2014. From this date, Local Authorities and schools were required to publish and keep under review, information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the 'Local Offer.' The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area. Please see the attached document showing our Local Offer at Sutton Manor Community Primary School.
The School SEND Policy
This offers information to parents (further to our Local Offer) relating to the school's policy regarding meeting the needs of SEND pupils and the provision that the school is able to provide.
What can we at Sutton Manor Community Primary School offer you?
At Sutton Manor Community Primary School, we embrace the fact that every child is unique and therefore, the educational needs of every child are different; this is certainly the case for children with Special Educational Needs. The following documents will give you more information in relation to SEND and how school and home can support children. If you have any concerns or wish to discuss SEND at our school, please do not hesitate to contact me.
