English
This half term we are focusing on 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. This is a brilliant picture book which gives children the freedom to use their inference skills throughout the story. It allows children to be imaginative and creative with their writing.
Reading
- Please encourage your child to read a range of varied texts which should include their class reading book. Children should read at least 3 times a week. Please complete their reading record to evidence that they have read at home. We have recently introduced our new reading reward. If children read a minimum of 3 times a week, they will recieve a sticker. Children who have recieved 6 stickers by the end of half term will recieve a reward.
- Please support your child with their reading and ask them questions about what they have read, this will help to improve their comprehension skills.
Writing
- We will focus on different writing skills surrounding our book. We will be completing a diary entry, a letter and a setting description.
- Please practice hand writing at home, we are encouraging children to work on their presentation.
- We will be completing several grammar lessons focusing on the Year 3 grammar targets. Please see the website for more information.
Children will each recieve spellings on a Monday and will be tested on them on a Friday morning.
