Liam is too big for his boots. And his football strip. And his school blazer. But being super-sized height-wise has its advantages: he's the only eleven-year-old to ever ride the G-force-defying Cosmic rollercoaster - or to be offered the chance to drive a Porsche. Long-legged Liam makes a giant leap for boy-kind by competing with a group of adults for the chance to go into space. Is Liam the best boy for the job? Sometimes being big isn't all about being a grown-up.

In the first half term in English we will be reading 'Cosmic' by Frank Cotterell-Boyce. This is an exciting adventure book about a boy who finds himself in a rocket going to space by crafty means. Whilst reading this book, the class will be writing in a variety of formats, such as diary writing, story telling and producing news articles. In the second part of the autumn term leading up to Christmas, we will look at the book 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl. We will further progress our writing skills whilst reading this book through poetry, descriptive writing, diary entries and story writing. Throughout these sessions, children will be focusing on a variety of spelling, punctuation and grammar skills to help improve our writing skills.
