Silver Artsmark Award

In 2018, we received the Silver Artsmark Award.  We were so pleased to receive this and it has been wonderful to see how the Arts have been threaded into all the parts of the curriculum as a result of this.

We have re-applied to submit a new Artsmark project and our target is to consolidate what we have already done and achieve gold!  We work very closely with the Music Hub and CultureEd as St Helens is now an Artsmark Council.  One of the things we wanted to achive was that every child is the school has the chance to learn some kind of musical instrument in our school and this has been achieved.  We now want to use our Arts Ambassadors in order to improve the curriculum so that the children have more input in what we do with the Arts in our school.

Sadly, lockdown has prevented many of these plans.  We have managed to have a great zoom workshop with the Liverpool Philharmonic in conjuction with the BBC and this was enjoyed by all classes that took part.  We have also had a few socially distanced workshops as well as zoom workshops.  Our school is currently involved with a local project in St Helens called the 'Here' Project and the older KS2 children have been involved in zoom workshops using the IPads.  It is hoped that in the next few months, you will be able to see the work our children have done for this project, along with other children in St Helens.

Despite lockdown, we continue to champion the Arts where we can safely do so and our new application has been extended to 2023 so watch this space!
