Hi everybody,
Well, what an eventful term! First of all, may I thank all children and families for the committment shown during this difficult time. The children have progressed well with their learning during this term. Together, we have read a number of great books: The Promise by Nicola Davies; Way Home by Libby Hathorn and Gregory Rogers; Clockwork by Philip Pullman; The Man Who Walked Between the Two Towers by Mordicai Gerstein, Rat Burger by David Walliams and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The children have also been learning about The Industrial Revolution in History, and how it changed the landscape of Great Britain in Geography. In science, the children learned about electricity.
Next half term we are planning to read more wonderful stories, starring with The Ghost Watchers by Eileen Moore. The children will also explore World War One and Two in History.
As we settle into school there are some details that you need to be aware of:
- Homework will be sent home every Tuesday and needs to be returned on or before Friday when we will go through it in class.
- PE kits should be worn on TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS for the first two weeks. After that, the times may change. We will keep you updated.
- Reading books. As always, we expect the children to read independently at home as often as possible. Unfortunately however, we are unable to allow children to bring a book back and forth everyday. We will encourage the children to take a class book home and return it when they have finished with it. Children may also have their own books at home that they wish to read. We will continue to read every day in class and monitor the children's abilities and progress carefully.
- Children have a log in for Reading Plus that they can use access at home.
