Nursery 2020 - 2021
Teaching Assistant: Mrs O'Dowd
Hello and welcome to our Nursery page!
Nursery is a busy place where learning is happening all the time. The classroom is set out to provide the children with a wide range of opportunities to play, explore and engage in learning. Our aim is for the children to be motivated and to want to think for themselves and therefore learn.
The adults in Nursery spend a lot of time playing with the children and moving their learning on to the next step (this is called ‘planning in the moment’). We like to include parents/carers at home in this process so ask you to fill in a sheet sharing your child’s interests and also taking photos of activities you’ve been doing at home. You will be asked to do this once a term.
In nursery each child has a special file or 'individual Profile' which keeps a record of your childs learning and achievement. You are welcome to come and look at your child's profile anytime by prior arrangement with a member of staff. Your child's achievemnt will be tracked and assessed, ensuring that they make progress and are moving on in their learning.
We start each day with a 'Morning Meeting'. We do the register, count the number of children at school, talk about the weather and sing the days of the week song. After registration we work on phonics, counting and lots of personal, social and emotional development. We always finish off our mornings with a story.
We hope your child will be very happy in Nursery and we will work with you to make this happen. Please ask if you have any questions and don’t forget to send in any ‘Wow’ moments for our celebration wall in Nursery.
We look forward to sharing this year with you and your child!
