Hello and welcome to our Nursery page!
Nursery is a busy place where learning is happening all the time. The classroom is set out to provide the children with a wide range of opportunities to play, explore and engage in learning. Our aim is for the children to be motivated and to want to think for themselves and therefore learn.
The adults in Nursery spend a lot of time playing with the children and moving their learning on to the next step to support their individual progress. We like to include parents/carers at home in this process and would love it if you could share your child's interests with us on our Class Dojo.
In Nursery, we use Tapestry to record and document the children's achievements and progress. Parents and carers are invited to sign up to recieve notifications from Tapestry so that you have immediate online access to any observations or events the children are involved in. We ask you to contribute with things that you notice your child doing at home too so that we get a really joined up, whole picture of each child. The work that your child produces, combined with observations and interactions with adults and peers is how we monitor progress and ensure that learning is constantly moving on. Your child will take part in a mixture of independent and adult led tasks, even if they tell you they have been 'playing,' this will be an activity desgined to enhance learning and may well be recorded on Tapestry.
We start each day with a 'Morning Meeting'. We do the register, count the number of children at school, talk about the weather and sing the days of the week song. After registration we work on phonics, counting and lots of personal, social and emotional development. We always finish off our mornings with a story.
Story sacks for you to share with your children and encourage reading together, will be sent home every Wednesday and should be returned by Tuesday the following week. Weekly updates and key information can be found via Parent App and Class Dojo.
We offer a healthy morning snack in Nursery and this is £1 per week, which is paid through our ParentPay system.
We hope your child will be very happy in Nursery and we will work with you to make this happen. Please ask if you have any questions and don’t forget to send in any special moments that your child has achieved so that we can celebrate together!
We look forward to sharing your childs learning journey!
